How to Review Assessment Instruments

This section provides a basic approach for reviewing assessment instruments.  There are three levels of review:

Item review involves steps to follow when evaluating alignment with state (VSC) and local content standards; content match; item type, format, and wording; stimulus; and scoring information.

Bias/sensitivity review involves guidelines and procedures to ensure that neither assessment items nor ancillary materials imply bias based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, or disability.
